For those of you who like big beer and big salumi, this might be the event for you. That didn’t sound right. Perhaps you should just read the press release from local author Adem Tepedelen. He writes much gooder than I.

Cook St Liquor presents its fourth extreme beer tasting with local craft beer writer Adem Tepedelen, author of the Brewtal Truth Guide to Extreme Beers. For this tasting we have a new venue in Oak Bay (Discovery Coffee) and we will be celebrating harvest time, with a little Halloween twist. Each flight will be paired with artisan salumi from the Whole Beast, with a little surprise ending from our hosts at Discovery Coffee. Must be 19 years old to attend. Proof of age required at the door.
- Thursday, 22 October 2015 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM (PDT)

Yet another fresh hopped beer in Victoria. This is a very, very good trend. Another plus is that this years Reaper uses malt from the new Phillips Malting Facility. Available now. Press release to follow.
Green Reaper Returns!
October 5th, 2015: It’s hop harvest season and Green Reaper, our annual fresh-hop IPA, is back! This year’s Reaper uses Vancouver Island barley malted right here at our malting facility! We are so excited to be able to partner with local farmers to use island-grown grain in our brews, that we’ve updated our name to Phillips Brewing & Malting Co!
On the hop side of things Green Reaper is packed with fresh centennial hops which were shipped straight from Sartori Farm in Chilliwack and into our brew kettle. Grapefruit aroma and flavours are underpinned with slight floral hints. This IPA remains subtly sweet, featuring a vibrancy and delicacy that can only come from full-cone, never-dried hops.
Harvest your bottle at private craft-focused liquor stores before this fresh-hop apparition disappears for another year!
We’re also hosting a free draft tasting of this seasonal specialty down here at Phillips HQ on Wednesday October 7th from 4-6pm; so pop on down and help us celebrate hop harvest season the best way possible: over a beer
If you want your own personal beer fest, head over to Spinnakers. I count nine new releases on draught. Highlights include a fresh hopped ale, pumpkin beer and a barrel aged sour. I have tried most of these releases recently and found them all delicious. Press release to follow, sorry no pretty picture.
Fall 2015 marks the release of some exciting seasonal brews at Spinnakers.

It seems to me that Category 12 is the only brewery doing press releases these days. And such elegant ones they are too. Kegs and bottles should be hitting store shelves and craft beer focused pubs now. Press release to follow
We’ve been waiting all year to release this beer!
Abandon your previous loyalties, pay attention, covert C12 operations have been taking place!
This weekend we call to action all Hop Heads, Bitterness Beaus, Lupulin Lovers, Alpha Acid Afficionados and IPA Appreciators, as we welcome the launch of Subersion Imperial IPA.
This 8.7% ABV hop lovers fantasy is a big, bold double IPA inspired by the best IPA’s the West Coast has to offer. A balanced, mellow malt bill with a dry finish allows us to showcase this beer’s massive hop character.
Join us as at the brewery as we tap the first kegs this Friday, October 2nd. This Saturday we crank it up a notch with the Lab hosting Hank’s BBQ and The Zone@91.3 at the brewery to celebrate our Subversion release and our Barrelholder program.
