We all loved the Raised by Wolves in bottles, adored it on draught now experience it from cask. That’s right, cask. The Drake Eatery (517 Pandora Ave) will have a cask of Raised by Wolves this Thursday on the bar at 5:13pm. Not sure why the funny time, but regardless get there early. This cask will vanish quickly.
It’s late, I’m tired and C12 writes a great press release. Time to cut and paste and go to bed.
Category 12 is proud to announce its first full-batch experimental beer release!
Inspired by our Belgian Golden Strong Ale that we brewed with BrewVic for Victoria Beer Week back in March -you may recall this beer first making a brief appearance as our first R&D pilot batch back in May.
Before scaling it up to the big brewhouse we sent this beer back to the drawing board for some fine tuning. There was a lot of cackling in the brewery as we turned this one up to 12! Well, almost…
This Belgian Golden Strong clocks in at a colossal 11.2% alc/vol but is devilishly drinkable and pleasantly dry on the finish. It has an amazing aroma evoking bubble gum and fresh fruit, and is crisp and bright on the palate.
Join us as at the brewery as we tap the first kegs this Friday, Aug 21st. This release will only be available in our tap room for tasters, glasses and both sizes of growler fills!
Don’t hear much from Canoe Club these days, but there is no better patio in town. A dunkelweizen with no name is now on tap, along with a honey wheat ale. Also with no name. Perhaps you should provide your own pet name? Photo and press release to follow.
Now pouring a freshly brewed #Dunkelweizen. a dark German-style wheat beer. Dark, spicy, fruity and a chocolate-y malt. Perfect to transition to the dog days of summer.
I’m sure you all have drank this brew already, but it should be mentioned. It should be noted that this beer used a yeast called Saccharomyces trois. For those familiar with the matter, this yeast used to be called Brettanomyces bruxellensis trois. This is a wild Brett like yeast that has acts like regular Sacch brewing yeast but produces some Brett like characteristics. So what does this all mean? This beer will have some wild yeast funk and great tropical fruit flavours, only to be enhanced by the tropical flavour hop Equinox. So drink one now and put one away for a few months to allow more Brett characters to develop. Beyond pretty Hired Guns artwork and not so pretty – but informative- press release to follow.
The time has come to unleash the Beast… Raised by Wolves IPA
An exotic IPA born of Equinox hops and wild ale yeast shall be captured briefly, but never tamed – this release is available for a LIMITED TIME only! Slowly making its way to private liquor stores in BC starting today!
Has a year passed by already? Apparently so because Phillips has released their yearly anniversary beer. Bourbon barrel aged for a year before dry hopping; sounds like a plan to me. Sadly no brewing mention of the number 14. Not 14 malts, 14%ABV, 14 hops, maybe they blended 14 different barrels? Regardless, it will be available very soon at better CBAW stores. Press release and pretty picture to follow. See you all there from 4-6 pm today for samples and real life social time.
August 17th, 2015: It’s our birthday, and we’re celebrating with a very special gorilla-sized barrel aged brew! Super Cooper was aged in freshly emptied bourbon barrels for a full year before dry-hopping. Soft malt sweetness and warm oak character from the barrel is paired with the bright kick of American hops. It’s our first Anniversary Ale with an anniversary of its own!
Bottles are limited and available at private craft-focused liquor stores for a short time only.
We would also like to invite you to celebrate with us at a couple of Super Cooper tasting events:
IN VICTORIA: Enjoy a taster and say cheers to another year of beer along with us at the brewery on Wednesday August 19th from 4-6. Our friends at Meat and Bread will be on-hand serving up Porchetta sandwiches with a citra hop verde sauce!
This is most likely not the only new release Spinnakers has on tap. I was at the brewpub recently and had my own personal beer fest with many releases I had never heard of. Press release and funky photo to follow:
This limited release summer beer has been aged in Mexican tequila barrels and augmented with citrus zest and Vancouver Island sea salt
Remember the Ramshackle Lighthouse brewers challenge a while back? No? Well Beer on the Rock never forgets, actually Facebook never forgets. As promised, Lighthouse brewed Matt Lyons winning beer a Belgo-American Mild. Not sure what style this is, but if you wish to figure it out yourself check local better BCAW stores.
