Summer must be coming, the wheat beers are hitting the shelves. The new kids on the Saanichton block have a twist on the summer sipper, a Belgian style witbier. This style is typified by a high percentage of wheat, unfiltered, spicy and drying yeasts with possible addition of citrus and spices. It mentions grapefruit and cardamon in the press release.Maybe I should cut my rant short and let the press release do the talking:
Its not what you were expecting, but once the momentum builds, its electrifying to roll where it takes you.
Introducing Waveform Witbier, the 2nd of our delightfully sessionable summer seasonals. This 5.3%abv Belgian style Witbier is screaming out for summer days by the water. With a serious dose of malted wheat and our house Belgian yeast, Waveform appears a hazy straw yellow in the glass with a delicious fluffy white head. On the palate it’s all citrus sass and spice from our additions of grapefruit peel and cardamom, followed by an alluring crisp, dry finish.
Officially available from this Friday May 22nd exclusively at the brewery, Waveform will be for sale in 650 mL bombers, growlers and flights. General liquor store distribution will follow next week.
We also welcome the return of Hank’s Untraditional BBQ at the brewery on Saturday. Come get some!
Plus we’ll also have a book signing from the venerable Joe Wiebe, author of the Craft Beer Revolution, from 1 – 3 pm.

This half counts as beer news. Spinnakers is releasing a new beverage called “Snakebite”. Traditionally the Snakebite is a drink made of equal parts lager and cider. Spinnakers is blending one with their house cider and an undisclosed cold fermented beer. Sounds refreshing. Press release to follow:
