Spinnakers releases multiple beers

This one slipped by us. Actually it just slipped by me. Spinnakers has two new beers out. The first is the first in their Brewer’s spinsortegaReserve Series called the Ortega Blonde. This is a collaboration with Muse Winery, a collision of the artisan beer and wine worlds.  Freshly crushed Vancouver Island grown Ortega grape juice was fermented along with Canadian Pilsen based ale resulting in a delicate, complex, effervescent ale; heavy on the citrus with a dry white wine finish.

The second is this years edition of the festive saison. It is touted as, “a light, spicy table saison brewed with just a hint of cinnamon, ginger, allspice, nutmeg and cloves, evoking a classic holiday pudding.”

Both are available in bombers.

Phillips releases Polaris milk stout

Winter must be here, the stouts are coming. New from Phillips is a milk stout called Polaris. Traditional milk stouts are low in alcohol. Luckily for us, the ABV of the Polaris is a tad above average which should help keep off the winter chill. Not much philstoutelse to say that the press release doesn’t already stated. Press release to follow, but you might have already guessed that by the previous sentence:

November 24th, 2014: As the winter days get colder and the night sky grows longer, craft beer tends to get darker.  This year a new Phillips seasonal brew will be spotted in the dark beer constellation of your local liquor store.

Polaris Milk Stout is brewed with lactose, a sugar that is not fermented by beer yeast, which adds soft sweetness and extra body to the beer.  Pouring velvety smooth with flavours of subtle coffee and cocoa, this rich roasted beer finishes with a hint of milk chocolate.

Polaris is available from private craft focused liquor stores now.  However the constellations are always moving, and it’s best to get your hands on this beer quickly since it’s only a matter of time before it disappears from view.

To celebrate the release, all craft beer astronomers are invited to join us at Phillips HQ on Thursday November 27th from 4-6pm for a free draft tasting of the new seasonal brew.
